I worked with Shelby and her family at her sister’s wedding last October. So, when she said she was engaged and wanted me to also photograph her wedding, I was ecstatic! I knew that the venue and details of the day would be perfect.
The girls started off the day at Chrysalis Salon in Canton. They all had matching blue button up shirts, personalized cups, and a hint of baby’s breath added to their hair. Michael gave Shelby a letter to read, so she took a moment to take it all in. We then headed to Fieldcrest Estate in North Canton. The venue is one of my all time favorites, and rightfully so, I had my own wedding there in 2012. The grounds are beautiful, including over 50 acres to roam, an Inn and Lodge for guests to stay, and a newly renovated farm house. Fieldcrest is a hidden gem in the heart of the city limits.
Michael and the groomsmen got ready at the Inn, and just as we were starting the guys photos, the rain subsided but the thunder was rumbling overhead. We crossed fingers that the rain would hold off until later, and sure enough it did. Michael and the guys all had different “funny” socks. Michael sported a pair of green giraffe socks since Shelby loves giraffes.
Shelby and the girls got ready at the lodge. They all wore multi colored floral dresses to go with the watercolor theme. Shelby and her family constructed the invitations by hand (which were real wood), and the florals by Bouquet Studio were stunning as always. Shelby’s dress from Abbott’s Bridal was a classic look with a modern twist. The sheer polka dots made it very unique, and one of my favorites! As we headed outside for bridesmaid photos, the voice of the musician, Parker, was heard practicing. His voice was simply amazing, it was hard not to get goose bumps and tear up a little.
Shelby and Michael wanted to pray together before the ceremony took place. We found a quiet spot on the side of the Lodge for them to share a moment alone. In just a few moments, they would see each other for the first time. The ceremony space was overlooking a tree lined field, and included a beautiful cross with florals. The ceremony was anything but ordinary. The guests all sang several hymns, and the message was very heartfelt. It was impossible to not see the love and commitment that Shelby and Michael have for each other. A rose petal exit started the cocktail hour, while we took bridal party photos.
It was a beautiful day for a wedding, and such a wonderful couple to work with. It was a pleasure being there and being a part of.
Shelby and Michael, enjoy a glimpse at my favorites from the day!
