The last Saturday in September can be a hit or miss when it comes to Ohio weather. Luckily, for Megan and Christian, it was spot on! The day started off in Hudson, at Simply Swank Salon, where Megan, her sister, and both moms got their hair and makeup done. It was then, that I learned about Christian’s’ late father being a photographer; more on that in a bit. Afterwards, we all headed to the church before the 2:00 ceremony. Megan did a 1st look with her Dad, and Christian’s Mom pinned on his very special boutonniere, a photo of his Dad. There were no ring bearers or flower girls, but Megan’s brother in law and nephew strolled down the aisle. After the ceremony, there was a bubble exit, and guests were invited to appetizers at Firestone Park. It was a great idea for the time in between the ceremony and reception. They rented out a shelter just minutes from Guy’s Party Center. We did all of the bridal party photos there, near the shelter. We had amazing light for the soft, romantic photos that Megan had envisioned.
The reception was in the Central Ballroom at Guy’s, which is a very intimate space for less crowds. As always, the food there was superb, and it was a great low-key night. Christian sang some Katy Perry karaoke to his new bride, and they were all smiles the whole night! Christian and Megan had dated for over eight years before they tied the knot. It was shortly after they met, Christian’s Dad, Mark, passed away. A book of his photographic images laid on the memorial table. After flipping through the pages, there was an image at Blue Hen Falls he took (where we happened to take Megan and Christian’s engagement photos). I put their rings on that picture as a way to incorporate his art.
Part of why I love what I do, is meeting so many new people and hearing their stories. Megan and Christian and their families are such great people, and I hope to work with them again in the future!
M+C, I hope your day was everything you dreamed it would be. Enjoy the preview!
